Commonly called Marigold. Tagetone may be a neurotoxin and this oil should be avoided during pregnancy and with small children and babies. Excessive use on exposed skin is discouraged as it can cause serious photosensitivity. This oil does have some beneficial applications however. It is soothing to inflammations and encourages the healing of wounds like abrasions, burns and fungal infections. It is antifungal and antiparasitic. Please use only a fresh oil for these properties as polymerization quickly reduces these actions. As an inhalant it dilates the bronchi and eases coughs and congestion in the lungs.
