Calendula grows all over and we’ve been using it as medicine in one way or another for a very long time.
I made this Calendula herbal oil made with Organic Olive Oil and Organic whole Calendula flowers. The flowers are resinous and it takes a little trick to get as much out of them as possible. There is a lot of medicine in that green base holding all those gorgeous petals.
This oil is totally edible and does lend a very mild bitterness to whatever oil and vinegar blend you like. Stimulates the bile when used that way. Mostly used topically because it is so great at healing the skin, astringes the tissues, antiseptic, promotes wound healing, cools rashes and sunburn. Use this oil full strength on the skin or in formulation for a lotion or cream.
