I grew up across the street from the Village Sauna and just up the hill from the American River in Fair Oaks, California. In this community in the 1970’s the adults and kids harvested native plants as edibles and herbs for salves and tinctures. We had big gardens and a tiny pond, gentle horses, naughty goats and plenty of chickens. A warm clove of garlic in your ear or a swallow of Schwedenkräuter would likely cure your ails.
