“Benzoin itself is released by the tree when the bark is cut. Warm, sweet, caramel and vanilla like scent. Generally used as an extract in alcohol but can be used diluted in a base oil as well.
I used to carry Benzoin only pure and undiluted, but customers were disappointed by how difficult it was to work with. This ethanol blend is pourable and can be used easily. Benzoin is antibacterial and antioxidant and therefore preservative. Inhaled as an expectorant and for the heart and circulation. Used externally as an antiseptic for chapped and inflamed skin.
Many magical uses, probably because it provides focus and helps with concentration. Used in blends for the Sabbats, for blends with rituals that recognize the turning of the seasons and other natural cycles of change.

4 parts Frankincense, 3 parts Vervain, Rosemary and Bay, 2 parts Myrrh, Benzoin, Cinnamon and Rose, 1 part Sandalwood make a nice blend for anointing the circle or yourself before entering the circle.
