Tolu Balsam

The balsam is distilled. There is conflicting information regarding how much sensitization can occur with use on the skin. Some experts say it should not be used on the skin, and yet is generally agreed that is effective in treating dry, chapped and cracked skin. Use care when applying to the skin. I have personally found it to be irritating and know others that were not bothered by it. It is primarily used as an inhalant to treat chronic bronchitis and deep chest coughs. It is an anti-inflammatory and an expectorant. Because of its warm vanilla like scent it is often used in soaps and perfumes. That scent is soothing and eases stress and tension.
