Eucalyptus Citriodora

Also called Lemon Eucalyptus. Organic leaves are used. This variety is sweet and lemony with a high content of Citronellal and Citronellol, actually more that the Citronella grass. For this reason it is frequently employed in bug repellant mixtures. A few drops in a white clay base is a great way to treat exposed skin. This method of application is terrific for treating athletes foot and other fungal infections. Can be used on irritated skin because it is an analgesic as well as calming and sedating. It is a very powerful antiseptic for the respiratory and urinary systems. Most soothing for inflammations of joints and skin. Valued for its anti-viral and anti-herpes effects.

A 2010 study found that Red Thyme, Lemon Eucalyptus, Citronella, Pennyroyal, Caraway Seed and Cloverleaf essential oils were effective against red spider mites that had become resistant to chemical pesticides.
