I’ve never been so sick – this years flu.

I’ve got a whole new respect for the flu. So many people have a swampy cough that just hangs on.

Essential oils are best employed to respiratory conditions. They’ve got a clear affinity for the air element, delivery is easy and safe when using them as an inhalant and you can use just a few drops each time.

Use a mug or small bowl, very hot water – steaming water, add a few drops of a blend or single oils. Use a small towel to tent your head over the mug or use the towel to make a funnel shape between the mug and your nose and mouth. Place your hands against your face as if you were doing that cartoon I’m yelling very loud!

Build your respiratory blend to treat lung congestion around an essential oil high in 1,8 cineole. There are many published scientific papers referencing studies that clearly show the therapeutic effects of essential oils high in 1,8 cineole. Essential oils with this chemical component reduce coughing and shortness of breath, demonstrate anti-inflammatory effects and lengthening of breath. Joy Bowles addresses the effects of 1,8 cineole on the respiratory tract in her book, The Basic Chemistry of Aromatic Essential Oils. The chemical component 1,8 cineole can be found in Eucalyptus, There are several varieties of Eucalyptusglobulusradiata, and citriodora are common. Spike lavender and Raventsara. These essential oils are easy to obtain, inexpensive and have a familiar and likely pleasant aroma.
